From August 14 – 17, 2018, the Minister of International Trade Diversification, The Hon. Jim Carr, will be leading the first-ever LGBTQ2+ trade mission to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s (NGLCC) Business and Leadership Conference in Philadelphia. We’ll be making history with this event as it’s the first LGBTQ2+ trade mission ever led by the Canadian government, and Global Affairs Canada is partnering with the CGLCC to ensure its success. We’re looking to recruit interested LGBTQ2-owned companies who are either starting out on their export journeys and want to learn more, or are seasoned exporters looking to penetrate the vast U.S. and international diversity supply chain. We also welcome corporate representatives with diversity programming or plans to institute them. This NGLCC conference is the largest conference of its kind in the world – bringing together 1,300 entrepreneurs, corporate decision-makers, affiliate chamber leaders, and government officials from across the U.S. and around the world. As the first Minister-led delegation ever at this conference, Canada’s participation will be profiled through the various panels, plenaries, keynote speeches, receptions and high visibility on the trade show floor - making it an unparalleled opportunity to be seen by corporate decision makers, suppliers and partners. The conference itself will offer unsurpassed learning and networking possibilities as well as matchmaking opportunities with Fortune 500 companies and other suppliers. In addition to the programs taking place during the Conference, there will also be a specialized program for the delegates of the trade mission, including a debrief from in-market trade commissioners, roundtable with the Minister, a Canadian breakfast discussion with American corporations, on-site consultations with Export Development Canada (EDC) experts, B2B matchmaking opportunities, and a Canada booth at the Market Expo where you can promote your products and services. In advance of the trade mission, the government trade commissioners will schedule a conference call to provide you with the necessary information for navigating the conference to make it as effective as possible for your businesses, and to provide you with valuable insight into doing business with the United States and within the supplier diversity value chain. Please visit the site Canada.ca/lgbtq-trade-mission for more information or contact the trade missions team at Trademissions.BST@international.gc.ca who would be happy to answer any questions about what to expect, the benefits of participating in the delegation, the conference program and the delegates program, registration, travel and hotel bookings. We encourage LGBTQ2 companies to participate on this trade mission to check out the international possibilities for your business and to possibly make this historic mission the launching pad to your company’s expansion into global markets.
