Dear OGLCC members and friends;

Please join me on Sunday, October 24th, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., at the Arcadian Court, for the 4th Annual Bridges to Hope & Freedom fundraising event for MCC Toronto and its community outreach programs.

MCC Toronto will present this year’s Hope & Freedom Award to honour the significant contribution of the legal profession in the progress towards equality of human rights in the LGBT community. In particular, Douglas Elliott (Roy Elliott O’Connor LLP), Martha McCarthy (Martha McCarthy & Company) and Cynthia Petersen (Sack Goldblatt Mitchell LLP) will be recognized as ambassadors of the efforts, which include efforts to legalize same sex marriage in Canada. We are reaching the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada decision that changed world history, thanks in large part to their work.

Justice Harry S. LaForme and John Tory will be featured guest speakers, Michael Serapio of the CBC will be our Master of Ceremonies, and The Choir of MCC Toronto will perform with special guest performers, Sherry Garner, Jeigh Madjus and Stephanie Martin.

The funds raised at the event contribute significantly to MCC Toronto’s outstanding community outreach programs that are the bedrock of the church, such as the amazing MCC Toronto Choir, the Triangle School Program (Canada’s first LGBT independent high school program), the GLBT Refugee Support Program, and the Adult Spiritual Education Program. These funds have also enabled the launch of the virtual church, broadcasting the Sunday 11:00 am services live on the web to a global congregation

I think that you will enjoy this opportunity to learn more about MCC Toronto and to support all of the work it does for the community at large.

The Bridges to Hope & Freedom event is free to attend. You will have an opportunity to make a donation to MCC Toronto in support of its community outreach programs during the event. It is your choice as to whether, or how much, to give—there is no minimum or maximum amount.

I hope that you will be at my table at the Arcadian Court to enjoy a traditional high tea and an inspiring afternoon. You can RSVP by sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or calling 416-557-9103.

Sincerely,
